On Valentine’s Day in 1888, five acres of land was donated where a new church and school were to be constructed.
Miss Cecilia Warczynski was appointed teacher of the newly constructed St. Valentine combined church and school. The pupils of the school were taught in both Polish and English languages. However, they were only instructed through the fifth grade.
On January 1, 1908, Father Joseph Kaminski was appointed to take charge of the newly created mission of St. Valentine. Father Kaminski immediately began to gather funds toward the construction of a new church, and on May 15, 1909 the cornerstone was laid.
