Accelerated Reading goals are established, annually, for each student, on an individual basis, from 40 to 100+ points, depending on reading interest and ability.  Each goal is divided by 4, to correspond with the four marking periods in our school year. Accelerated Reading is used as approximately ¼ of a student’s report card, reading grade.

Students read books from our school library (Bay County Libraries also have a list of St. Valentine AR book tests). After completing a book, the student takes a computer test on it, receives a percentage score, and the points they’ve earned. These points go toward their individual goal. Students who achieve quarterly goals are able to participate in a reward activity, as planned by the teacher.
